Before I started Alpenau Shepherds, I was a management consultant working with startups from the early stage seed financing level to multinational publicly held companies. I performed work all over the world in the course of this career from Sydney to Hong Kong to Prague to Mexico and every major city in the United States of America. The skills that I developed and deployed in that career are what enabled me to see just how badly the protection dog industry needed real and substantial innovation. A fact that I discovered when I got my own personal protection dog. A dog that was trained the highest levels in Germany, was titled accordingly, and had competed successfully. A dog that I completely fell in love with, who was a phenomenal dog, but a dog that would have never actually protected me in real life if I had ever needed it. In other words, a dog that was sold to me as a protection dog, but wasn’t. In fact, he didn’t even have any real world obedience. I couldn’t even walk him down the street without him constantly pulling at the end of the leash, throwing out my elbow and throwing out my shoulder. And this is the absolute truth. Despite the high price tag, despite the super elite pedigree, despite all the titles, the certificates, the paperwork involved when it came to being with him in the real world on an everyday basis, there was no training involved. None. Zero. And it was this experience coupled with all of the knowledge and the education and the hard work involved that flowed from it that led to the creation of Alpenau Shepherds and the incredible innovation that we do here. And it is this innovation across the entire creation and the development of our dogs from socialization to obedience and to finally protection that separates what we do at Alpen House from what everyone else does. So much so that we summarize what we have done as the creation of the new era of protection dogs. Protection dogs two point o. Let me give you the overview. We start training our dogs from the time they are between six and eight weeks old. We only work with the healthiest, most high performance breeds on the planet, the Dutch Shepherd and the Belgian Malinois. From within these breeds, we only work with very specific genetic lines, lines that have long and proven pedigrees of producing the super healthy dogs we’re looking for. And then from within these lines, we only work with very specific breedings. From there, we tailor our unique and proprietary training methodology to raise our pups over the course of the next one to three years to be safe and social, both at home and out in public, always at all times. They’re trained to be obedient when necessary at the highest levels under very complicated and difficult real world situations. And finally, they’re trained to have the most advanced protection capabilities and combatives that can exist so that they are properly equipped to handle a real world conflict effectively, decisively, and with powerful control. At the end of it all, we will have interwoven these three strands of training, socialization, obedience of protection, like three strands within a DNA molecule so that they all work synergistically together. And the end result of all of this is that we finally and ultimately create the protection dog for yourself or for your family that you imagine in your dreams when you think about what a personal or family protection dog should be. Safe for you and your friends and your family. Safe when you’re out in public in all situations. Reliable with its obedience in real world environments and capable of defending against the most extreme real world threat that could possibly emerge. In protection, we have the ability to turn our dogs on and to turn our dogs off. When we choose to turn our dogs on like a light, they switch on and they go into a state of real aggression, which is absolutely necessary for a real protection dog. They have control then within that state of aggression. No leash is ever required. And because no leash is required, you are in control. You don’t have to fight to restrain your dog while it’s going crazy at the end of a leash, which is no way to have to handle a real world threat. Everything about this is wrong. The bite targeting you see is completely wrong. The fact that the owner has to stay too close to the threat is wrong. The way that the threat is now interacting with the dog while the dog is biting him is wrong. The fact that the dog would almost certainly lose this fight if it were real, if this were a real world situation and this is how the dog was fighting is clearly wrong. And the fact that there is no control is wrong. You need your hands to be free. You need the bite targeting to be correct. You need the dog to win the fight and you need to be in control. This is what you need for a real world encounter. This is what real world elite protection really is. Your dog stays by your side without a leash to protect you unless you tell him otherwise, and he will automatically intercept a threat if it comes too close to you. Your dog will automatically target the weapon arm in question and then subsequently engage the threat in a full fight with the intention of disarming the threat until the threat gives up or until you give the command for the dog to stop attacking. At which point you can call the dog back to you to continue to guard you, to continue to protect you if you wish until such time as you are ready to turn the dog off. And once you turn the dog off, it immediately goes back into being a playful, happy, social, loving family pet. This is what elite protection truly is.
